Poetry II

Personal project ( 2015 )

Catcalls by the junction corner in the day;
hawking attention to that pretty lady along the way.
Intended perhaps as harmless flirtatious play;
objectified, she felt shame and sullen dismay.

Some people may enjoy the attention whilst others are simply indifferent. But I dislike catcalls, wolf whistles and that weird sucking noise idkwhattheycallit. I believe that we’re all capable of respecting everyone, beyond strangers and genders, as people who value each other enough to discard decades of conditioned mating ‘calls’ and express their desires in more mutually admirable ways. Method drives the distinction between compliment and harassment. Stay classy.
